He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Opal Beatrice Smith Summerlin; and his brother James Lee Summerlin. He is survived by: his wife Janie Summerlin; his children, Burnice Paul Summerlin (Phyllis) of Kenly and Kathryn Ann Batts (Todd) of Fremont; his sisters, Judy Faye Freeman (Jackie Freeman) of Wilson and Diane Marie Summerlin of Elm City; and his grandchildren, Austin Paul Summerlin, Katlyn Almond and Tyler Ray Batts.
