He was predeceased by: his parents, Colin Landon Smith and Mary Ethel Black; his wife Rena Bumgardner Smith; and his daughter Sherrie Lynn Gilmore. He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Johnsen (Robert) of China Grove and Sandy McVay (Bob) of Kannapolis; his sister Ruby Pearl Frye of West End, NC; his grandchildren, Dallas Read, Autumn Schackert (Kyle) and Tiffany Long Bob (Drew); and his great grandchildren, Austin, Violet, Caleigh, Kinsley, Dudley, Sadella, Karlee, Salem, Maggie and Barrett.
