He is survived by: his wife LuAnne; his friend LuAnne Fesperman Mullis; his brothers, Reid and Edwin Mullis (Debbie); and his stepchildren, Matthew, Curtis Hall, Lynn H. Smith and Shirley H. Metcalf. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
