He was predeceased by: his father Oscar Self; and his niece Amie Self. He is survived by: his children, Christina Sinclair of Kannapolis, NC and Timothy Self, Jr. (Christine) of Kannapolis, NC; his grandchildren, Kayle, Khloe, Skylar, Noah and Aiden; his siblings, Linda Self and Randy Self; his nephews, Jesse Self and Dwayne Self; and the mother of his children Kathleen Self of Salisbury, NC..
