He was predeceased by: his parents, John Scarborough and Maude Scarborough; his wife Betty Scarborough; and his siblings, Bill, Cliff, Eva, Grace, James, Joyce, Margaret, Novice, Robert, Ruth and Virginia.
He is survived by: his son Phil Scarborough (Karen) of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Chip Scarborough of Birmingham, Alabama and Kristen Thomas (Justin) of Claxton, Georgia; his great grandchildren, Caroline Thomas of Claxton, Georgia and John Thomas of Claxton, Georgia; and his brother Melvin Scarborough (Judy) of Phenix City.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Dementia Society of America.
