He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Elmer Hamke and Eva Marie Cooney Hamke; his sister Carol Peters; and his stepson Steve Anderson. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Lea Herman Hamke; his son Robby Hamke (Emily); his granddaughters, Madison and Mayce Hamke; his sister Susie Bakeeff; and his stepdaughter Cindy Anderson.
