He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Nehemiah Sloop and Ollie Belle Patterson Sloop; his wife Gail Smith Sloop; his siblings, Harold Sloop, Margaret Sloop and Joan Sloop Walter; and his daughter Beth Wood Karriker.
He is survived by: his children, Joe Sloop (Lisa), LeAnn Sloop Logan (Jason) and Gigi Sloop Berg (Todd); his grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Sloop, Anna Pinto (Frank), Emily Cordero (Kenny) and Mary Beth Wood Hernandez (Uli); and his friend Jane Anderson of Kannapolis, NC.. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
