With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marshall Brandon Payne Jr. of Kannapolis, North Carolina, who passed away on March 26, 2025 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Marshall may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Marshall touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Brandon Payne and Lorene Thomason of Kannapolis, NC.. He is survived by: his wife Perriann Fields Abernathy; his sister Prudence "Pru" Payne Snider of Spencer, NC; his nephews, David Snider and Brent Snider; and his aunts, Mildred Payne Turner of Landis and Hilda Payne Hellington of Ohio.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wilkinson Funeral Home (100 Branchview Dr NE, Concord, NC 28025).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Parkinson's research organization or a charity of choice.
