He was predeceased by: his parents, George Franklin Smith and Gertie Mae Smith; and his daughter Shirley Ann Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mildred Mae Rattz Smith; and his children, Deborah S. Hopson (George) of Kannapolis, George F. Smith (Dawn) of Boiling Springs, SC and Michael L. Smith of Kannapolis. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
