He was predeceased by: his parents, Sim Caldwell Stancil and Ruth Lillian Hartsell Stancil; and his wife Hazel Lee Stancil. He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Scott Stancil (Lorie), Johnny Eric Stancil (Sherrie) and Melanie Ann Stancil Deason (Nelson); and his grandchildren, Darren Scott Stancil, Jessica Leigh Stancil, Heather Nicole Deason Brannon (Evan) and Cory Drew Deason (Ally). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
