He was predeceased by: his parents, James Richard Cheek and Vaydeen Rodgers Cheek; and his brother Eston Cheek (Belinda). He is survived by: his wife Sandra Linker Cheek; his children, Bryan Cheek (Janice) and Deana Cheek Lewis (Aaron); his grandchildren, Alexandra Cheek, Anna Cheek Teodorovici (Aaron), Katherine and Jackson Lewis; and his siblings, Gail Cheek McArthur (Steve) and Mickey Cheek (Peggy).

Memorial donations in Dean's memory may be directed to Atrium Health Hospice and Palliative Care Cabarrus at 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081.
