He was predeceased by: his parents, William Canup and Pearl Mae Lefler Canup; his son James Ray Canup; and his grandson Joseph A. Broome. He is survived by: his wife Margie L. Canup of Kannapolis; and his daughters, Sandra Hinton (Kenny) of Livermore, Robin "Ninki" Eddleman (Tim) of Kannapolis and Bonnie Broome (Darrell) of Kannapolis. He is also survived by six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
