He is survived by: his wife Beverly Sloop Mullis; his stepsons, Michael Hill (Cristi) of Kannapolis and David Hill (Lisa) of Carthage; and his siblings, Myra Mullis of Charlotte, Elizabeth Fianchino (Randy) of Denver, NC, Bruce Mullis (Debbie) of Concord, Darrell Mullis of Colorado and Carroll Max Mullis (Dottie) of Concord. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
