He is survived by: his children, James "Doodle" Shoemaker (Terri) and Tina Coone (Fred); his grandchildren, Jessica Shoemaker, Bradley James Coone, Cody Justin Coone and Zack Carpenter; his great grandchildren, Emma and Kaydee Coone; his nephew Fred Carpenter; his siblings, Dennis Shoemaker (Vickie), Grady Shoemaker, Annie Barrier and Mary Smetzer (Paul); and his close friends, Riley Vanderlaan, Jimmy White and Jackie Taylor.
