With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Morton Sr. of Kannapolis, North Carolina, born in Wadesboro, North Carolina, who passed away on September 12, 2020 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Blair Morton and Mary Threadgill Morton; his sisters, Alice Holder, Helen Fortner and Imogene Morton Roach; his granddaughter Crystal Wetherbee; and his stepdaughter Cynthia Shrum.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Stamey Morton; his children, Sheila Wetherbee, Linda Wetherbee (Rick), James Morton, Jr. (Sharon), Bonnie Overcash (Todd) and Sharon Clendenin (Jeff); and his siblings, Willie Blair Morton, Jr., Eunice Burris and Patricia Dellinger. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.
