“Don and Iris were some of the models I had at First Presbyterian growing up. Iris was the most beautiful lady to me. As I became an adult I realized that it was not a superficial beauty but a true beauty of the heart and soul. She called me when my mother, Effie Eudy, died in 2000 and we reminisced about Miss Effie and had a wonderful conversation. Sadly, I saw her rarely except for funerals at her church. The world has certainly lost an encouraging, decent soul. I hope she knew that. Melinda Eudy Ratchford”
