She was predeceased by: her parents, Atlas Marion Godwin and Pearl Edwards Godwin; her husband William "Bill" Tarlton; and her siblings, Nell Carpenter, Ethel Edwards Nall, Curtis Godwin, Furman Godwin and Vann Godwin.
She is survived by: her daughter Debbie O'Shields of Kannapolis; her sisters, Ruby Newsom of Salisbury and Martha Jean Stegall of Gastonia; her grandson Jeremy Tutt (Misty); and her stepgrandchildren, Gretchen Haskett (Nathan) and Jeremy O'Shields (Priscilla). She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
