He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry James McCartney and Gertrude Stoudt McCartney Dechant; his former wife Betty Jo Hughes McCartney; his wife Lydia Cox McCartney; his siblings, Robert McCartney, Clarence DeChant, David McCartney and Joyce H. Bower; and his stepson Robert Teal.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kelly Ann McCartney of Lawrence, Patricia Dorothy Fuetado of Fall River, Amanda Roxanne Salaita of Bahrein and Marguerite Bernice Leek of West Virginia; his stepchildren, Debbie Sellers (Dennis) of Bakersville, NC, Tracy Teal (Yvonne) of Rutherford, NC, Steven Helms of Salisbury, Michelle Hilton, Paula Rankin and Jeremy Cox; and his siblings, George McCartney, John DeChant, Phyllis King and Frances "Frannie" Lamey. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.
