He was predeceased by: his parents, Elisabeth Benda (Knaack) and Clemens Ernst Benda; and his son George Michael Benda Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Rosemarie Emma Lampe; his children, Christopher Benda (Brenda) of Barre, Catherine Paradise (Ray) of Fernandina Beach and Carl Benda (Julie) of Kannapolis; his grandchildren, Eric Benda (Miranda), George C. Benda, Melissa Blanchard (Scott) and Todd Lamphere; and his brother Christian Benda (Jean).
Charitable donations may be made in honor of Mr. Benda to the Audubon Society of Massachusetts.
