It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elsa Mae Townsend of Kannapolis, North Carolina, who passed away on January 10, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Russell Tyner and Ressie Stone Tyner; her siblings, Betty Tyner Mack and Rev. John Ellis Tyner; and her husband Rev. Jerry W. Townsend, Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Benita Long (Barry) of Concord, Jerry W. Townsend, Jr. of Irvington and Rosalyn Williams (Nathan); her sister Frances Viano of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Kennedy Long, Nathan Williams, Jr., Townsend Williams (Rachael), Andrea Love (Chance) and Andrew Townsend; and her great grandchildren, Eleanor and Walter Williams.
The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Concord, 200 Branchview Drive, SE.
