She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Robert Louis Slate and Jennie Anderson Slate; her husband Richard C. Whitaker; her sons, Steven Whitaker (Rachel) of Concord and Robert "Bob" Whitaker (Tannis) of Statesville; her grandchildren, Whitney, Preston, Payton, Cheyenne, Connor, Wyatt and Sarrah; and her sister Pat Green (Dave).
