He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles R. Shepherd and Gaye Wyatt Shepherd; his daughter Tammy Shepherd; and his siblings, Ralph Shepherd and Bonnie Ratliff.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Howell Shepherd; and his children, Pam Bolick of Kannapolis, Ellen Hill (Dave) of Salisbury, NC, Amy Taylor (Steve) of Holden Beach, Charles M. Shepherd (Sylvia) of China Grove, Tony Shepherd (Kathy) of Las Vegas and James Shepherd of Kannapolis. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
