He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Maples and Nancy Maples; his daughter Karen Carlene; and his siblings, Phillip, Ernest Maples, Grace Stewart, Zelma Mize, Dorothy Hodge and Mary Godfrey.
He is survived by: his wife Georgie Carr Maples; his daughter Kathy Mowrer (Larry) of Kannapolis, NC; his granddaughter Laura Lopez-Serna (Jose); his great grandchildren, Eli and Jeremiah Lopez; and his sister Ruth Parker of Houston, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
