She was predeceased by: her husband James Edward Smith; her parents, Hardin Elbert and Susan R. "Della" Brooks; and her siblings, Mattie, Callie, Mary, Ethel and Lonnie.
She is survived by: her children, Donna Smith Johnson of Trinity and James Smith (Naomi) of Elkin; and her grandchildren, Melissa Riley of Trinity, Clayton Johnson of Trinity, Wayne Smith (DeeDee) of Ronda, Teresa Blackburn (Eddie) of Elkin, Nina McCoy (Steven) of Elkin, Hannah Sparks and Mindy Garrett. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren.
