She was predeceased by: her husband Russell L. Carte; her parents, Melvin Chapman and Vesta Sampson Chapman; and her son-in-law Delmar Cliborne, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Linda Cliborne of Powhantan, VA, Judith Brinegar of Danville, VA, Julia Carte and Russell Carte, Jr. (Brenda) of Liberty; and her brothers, Kermit Chapman of Smithfield, VA. and Ralph Chapman of Elkview. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
