He was predeceased by: his parents, Gaither Thomas and Ella Blanche Shumate Kilby; and his siblings, Margie Teague, Betty Jo Cleary, Loretta Shumate, Tommy Kilby, Nancy Sprinkle, David Kilby and Eddie Kilby.
He is survived by: his daughters, Alexandria Paterson of Jonesville and Melissa Dimmette of Mulberry; his grandchildren, Jared Dimmette, Hannah Absher, Victor Horton, Nickolas Paterson, Jack Kilby, Maverick Aaron, Raiden Aaron and Michael Aaron; and his siblings, Carol Brown of Moravian Falls and Mason Kilby (Rachel). He is also survived by twenty-three nieces and nephews.
The family has requested no flowers.
