He is survived by: his wife Irene Goodman Bower; his children, Charles Bower of Jefferson, Deborah Bower of West Jefferson, Regina Hall of Jefferson, Sharon Miller of Lansing and Colleen Bower of Wilkesboro; and his siblings, John Bower of Jefferson, Betty Goodman of West Jefferson and Sandra Eldreth of Jefferson. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
