He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Ayers McCollum II and Pauline Sessoms Everhart; his wife Elizabeth Autry McCollum; and his daughter Paula Lynn McCollum. He is survived by: his daughter Deborah McCollum Gomez (Diego) of Greensboro; and his granddaughter Isabella McCollum-Gomez.
