He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ella Miller; his children, Cindy Gunter (James) of Winston-Salem, Mitch Cockerham (Carol) of Winston-Salem and Bill Cockerham of High Point; his sister Bonnie Sue Riggan of Mocksville; his grandchildren, Olivia, Cameron, Brad and Daniel Cockerham; his great grandchildren, Peyton Harwell, Amani Thomas and Jaden Thomas; his stepgrandchildren, Melanie Wyant, Drew Hayworth, Brandi Shuler and Chris Gunter; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Emily Wyant, Matthew Wyant and Huxley.
