He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sandra Mitchell; his children, Rob Mitchell (Paulette) of Greensboro, NC and Julie Knight (Will) of Stokesdale, NC; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Zoe, Tyler, Sean, Mary, Ella and Henry; and his brothers, Bill Mitchell and Joe Mitchell, Jr.. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
