He was predeceased by: his parents, James Franklin Cavenaugh and Josephine Brown McGuire; and his brother Timothy Ray Cavenaugh. He is survived by: his siblings, Diane Plankey, Beanie Collins (Jeff), Wanda Lumpkin (Buddy), Ruth Autwell (Phillip), Rebecca Duncan, Billy Cavenaugh and William McGuire; his daughters, Virginia Cavenaugh-Spagnoli (Josh) of Richlands, Ashley Messier (Tim) of Jacksonville and Shelley Cavenaugh; his grandchildren, Victoria Wandzel (Ethan), Alexandria Finney (Ryan) and Timothy Messier; and his great grandchildren, Ara Wandzel, Théoden Wandzel and Micah Finney.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home of Jacksonville (303 Chaney Ave, Jacksonville, NC 28540). A graveside service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Onslow Memorial Park (3280 Richlands Hwy, Jacksonville, NC 28540).
