She was predeceased by: her parents, James Richard Medlin and Beulah Lamm Medlin; and her son Arnold Beard. She is survived by: her husband Robert R. Beard; her daughter Melinda B. Maloney (Patrick) of Jacksonville; her brother James D. Medlin (Teresa) of Bailey, NC; and her grandchildren, Shaun Maloney (Ashley), Conner Maloney (Karen), Ian Maloney (Kim), Dillan Maloney, Caroline Beard, Catherine Beard and Matthew Beard.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel (303 Chaney Ave, Jacksonville, NC 28540). A graveside service was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Bailey Cemetery (11499 S 581, Bailey, NC 27807).
