We are sad to announce that on March 21, 2021 we had to say goodbye to May Mathis of Jackson, North Carolina. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry and Violet Reece Mintz; her husband Clarence Mathis; her great grandchild Easton Cagle; and her siblings, Florence Hannah, Evelyn Hampton, Lawrence (Betty), Elmer (Dorothy), Don and Roy Mintz.

She is survived by: her children, Carol Cagle (Noel) of Sylva, Ricky Mathis (Mary) of Waynesville and Patsy Gunter (Jeff) of Sylva; her brothers, Dewey, Gene, Oscar Mintz of Waynesville and Boyd Mintz of Hot Springs; her sisters-in-law, Jean, Barbara, Sally Mintz and Pauline Mathis; her grandchildren, Jason Cagle (Heather), Holly Keffer (JJ), Justin Cagle (Megan), Zac Cagle (Breana), Colby, Steven McFalls, Kayden Conner and Cora Cox; and her great grandchildren, Gunner, Hunner, Owen, Koraline, Eli, Evie, Talen and Genevia. She is also survived by 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Youth Fund, 89 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Sylva, NC 28779.
