He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Wilson Vaughan and Gladys Cone Vaughan; his son David Earl Vaughan, II; and his siblings, Sandra Barnes and Billy Vaughan.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Price Vaughan; his daughters, Phyllis Vaughan-Clark (Tony) and Cindy Vaughan Hall (Ronnie) of Ahoskie; his grandchildren, Patrick White (Kendra), Charles White (Tommie), Jessica Jones, Shannon Williams (Paul), David Earl Vaughan, III, Chelsie Vaughan and Anthony Clark; his sister Elizabeth Capp (James) of Roanoke Rapids; and his nephew William "Peanut" Vaughan. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
