He was predeceased by: his parents, Isom'Jack' Pernell and Mary Helen Allen Pernell; and his child Keisha Latrice Purnell. He is survived by: his former wife Barbara Williams; his children, Shelton Eugene Purnell (Kendra), Carroll Lamont Purnell, Fanisha Long-Solomon (Alfred) of Durham and Christie Long of Durham; his grandchildren, Jalen, Cierra, Ryan, Ashton and Bryson; his wife Delois; his grandson Juston; his goddaughter ShaRhonda Melvin; his siblings, Willie Pernell (Virginia) of Jackson, Thomas Pernell (Shirley) of Jackson, Kenneth Pernell (Lillie) of Jackson, Mazel Pernell of Silver Spring, Mary P. Harris of Morrisville, Darlene Pernell-Bunkley (Angelo) of Laurel, Angela Pernell of Roanoke Rapids, Lisa P. Hamm (Ron) of Ashburn and Virginia; and his mother-in-law Georgia Jerman of Jackson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many friends.
