He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond McInnis and Edna McInnis; and his brothers, Alan and Kenneth McInnis. He is survived by: his wife Barbara McInnis (Pate); his children, Catherine Kuhn (McInnis) of Jackson Springs, NC and David McInnis of Cary, NC; his granddaughter Brooklyn Kuhn of Wilmington, NC.; and his sisters, Lorraine Bruinsma (Simon Bruinsma) of West End, NC and Karen Wilkerson of Rockingham, NC..
