He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Smith and Ollie Davis Smith; his sons, Hanson, Patrick and Sheldon; and his brothers, Bobby Smith (Mable) and Walter Smith (Martha).
He is survived by: his children, Marcus Smith, Valery Poole-Hayes (Dexter) of High Point, NC and Tamara Smith of Jackson Springs; his sisters, Bessie Brower, Mary McLean and Viola Stanback; his grandchildren, Tekia Poole-Pettiford (Demontae), Toressa Poole, Destiny Hayes, Marquis and LaChanting Smith; and his close friend Aleyah Lacey (Carl). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
