With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Dwight Gordon Saunders of Iron Station, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Gordon and Flossie Lawing Saunders; and his brothers, Thurman (Joyce Saunders), Charlie (Helen Saunders), R. B. (Betty Saunders), Arnold (Lena Saunders), Herschel (Shirley Saunders) and Jerry Saunders.
He is survived by: his wife Betty "Kitty" Smith Saunders; his sons, Heath Saunders (Dawn) of Roanoke, VA and Clay Saunders of Charlotte, NC.; and his siblings-in-law, Barry Smith (Pat) of Cramerton, NC, Gretchen Price (Carl) of Blacksburg, VA and Marjorie Roer (Bob) of Wilmington, NC.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Woodlawn Chapel (375 Woodlawn Ave, Mt Holly, NC 28120). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at the Forest Lawn Cemetery - Lincolnton (2858 NC-150, Lincolnton, NC 28092).
