He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Cornwell Sr. and Sarah Lee Harris Cornwell; and his brother Joe Harris. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Wilson Cornwell; his children, Aubrey Gene Wilson (Denise) of Gastonia, NC, Leonard Cornwell (Michelle) of Iron Station, NC, Kevin James Cornwell of Lincolnton, NC, Barbara Crawford (Kenny) of Lincolnton, NC, Michelle Forney (Shawn) of Cherryville, NC and Sharon Thomas (James) of Stanley, NC; and his siblings, Anderson Cornwell of Hickory, NC, Sarah Lopes of Hickory, NC, Ruth Witherspoon (Walter) of Hickory, NC and Pastor Emma Doughty (Bill) of Hickory, NC. He is also survived by twenty seven grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren.
