She was predeceased by: her husband Craven Austin; her parents, Elwood Voncannon and Laura Voncannon; and her siblings, Ollie Mae Griffin, E. J. Voncannon, Evelyn Hooks and Patricia Reynolds.
She is survived by: her children, Melanie Somers (Doug) and Brian Austin (Anna); her grandchildren, Hillary Somers Evans (Leighton), Makalya Somers Kiker (Kemp) and Zachary Austin (Abbey); and her great grandchildren, Audrey and Amelia Kiker.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hopewell Baptist Church (Legacy Chapel) (420 Hopewell Church Rd, Monroe, NC 28110). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 1st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery (420 Hopewell Church Rd, Monroe, NC 28110). A burial was held on Wednesday, January 1st 2025 at the same location.
