He was predeceased by: his parents, Flem Whitfield and Eunice Mae Blalock Whitfield; and his brother William Harold Whitfield. He is survived by: his wife Violet Knott Whitfield; his daughters, Sharon Schlesinger (Larry) of Bahama, NC and Janet Pilchard (Gary) of Pocomoke, MD; his brothers, Jerry Whitfield (Karen) and Richard Whitfield (Alice); and his grandchildren, Daniel Pilchard, Tim Schlesinger, Mike Schlesinger, Maddie Pilchard and Anna Schlesinger.
