She was predeceased by: her parents, George Washington Glasscock and Julia Davis Glasscock; her brother Forest Glasscock; her brother-in-law Cecil; and her grandson Benjamin Puryear.

She is survived by: her husband Richard Adolphus Whitfield, Sr.; her children, Kimberly Blume (Charles) of Euless, TX and Kevin Puryear (Joann) of Roxboro, NC; her siblings, Mark Glasscock (Ann), Violet Moore and Lou Wiseman (Harold); her stepsons, Richard A. Whitfield Jr. (Debbie) of Hurdle Mills, NC, Phillip Whitfield (Joyce) of Hurdle Mills, NC and Jeffrey Whitfield (Dara) of Hurdle Mills, NC; her grandchildren, Blaise Blume, Rheannon Blume of Texas, Kalyn Sanders (Matt) of Roxboro, NC, Taylor Puryear of Roxboro, NC, Jordan Owens (Blake) of Roxboro, NC and Caroline Puryear of Roxboro, NC; her stepgrandchildren, Garrett Whitfield (Anna), Colby Whitfield (Brannsyn), Richard Whitfield III (Erica), Jedd Whitfield and Lyndley Whitfield; her great grandchildren, Leo Sanders and Joules Sanders; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Avery Whitfield, Jase Whitfield and Reese Whitfield; and her caregiver Laura Lewis. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
