He was predeceased by: his daughter Retha; his parents, Walter Burgess and Retha Burgess; and his siblings, Carol Money and Robert (Bobby).

He is survived by: his wife Felicia; his sons, Sonny (Ashley) and Aaron (Crystal); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Haven and Zachary; and his brother David. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the China Grove Church of God located at 413 N Franklin St, China Grove, NC 28023.
