He was predeceased by: his father Ralph Helms; his son David Ray Helms; and his brother Albert Helms. He is survived by: his wife Jean Helms; his daughter Teresa Helms Goodman of Banner Elk, NC; his daughter-in-law Kim Helms of Charlotte, NC; his sister Martha Jean Sigmon (Paul) of Charlotte, NC; and his grandchildren, Stephanie (Garrett), Tucker, Hunter, Melissa (Zach) and Romulus.
Memorials may be made to Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Charlotte.
