He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter Thigpen, Jr. and Azalee Rogers Thigpen; his grandparents, James Walter Thigpen, Sallie Tomlinson Thigpen, Thurmon Rogers and Rosa Belle Abbott Rogers; his siblings, Carolyn Ard and Kennon Thigpen; and his brothers-in-law, Wayne McCutchen, Frank Ard, Urs Koeppel and Cale Yarborough.
He is survived by: his sons, James Christopher Thigpen Jr. (Melissa) of Valdosta, GA and Ryan Douglas Thigpen (Mary) of Huntersville, NC; his grandsons, Coston Thigpen (Lydia), Andrew Thigpen, Alex Thigpen, Jase Thigpen and Owen Thigpen; his great grandchildren, Caelan Hinton, Margo Thigpen and Cohen Thigpen; his sisters, Betty Jo Yarborough of Sardis, SC, Shirly McCutchen of Hartsville, SC, Wanda Ross (Mark) of Florence, SC and Vonnie Koeppel of Sumter, SC; and his former wife Judy Thigpen of Valdosta, GA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
