He was predeceased by: his parents, Darius Sebastian Hampton and Lena Carroll Hampton; and his brother Wayne Houston Hampton. He is survived by: his wife Avis Smith Hampton; his daughters, Susan Hampton Barringer of Mooresville and Karen Hampton Hunt (Greg) of Huntersville; his grandchildren, Amber Barringer Hines (Austin), Taylor Barringer and Zachary Howie; his great grandchildren, Warren, Wyatt, Hazel, Peyton and Grace; his sisters, Juella Hampton Francis and Muriel Jean Hampton Jones; and his sister-in-law Joyce Hartley Hampton.
