He was predeceased by: his father Robert Lee Hunley. He is survived by: his mother Argene "Jean" Burris Hunley; his sister Sharon Hunley Nunn; his friend Mark; and his nephews, Joshua Nunn and Matthew Nunn (Mary). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many more family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's name to the Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurosciences Departments at Atrium Health, Charlotte's Medical Center, http://www.atriumhealth.org.
