She was predeceased by: her father Paul Thompson Sr.; her husband Edwin Thomas Young Sr.; her brothers, Paul Thompson, Jr., Oliver Thompson, Marvin Thompson, Curtis Thompson and Emmett Thompson (Butch); her sisters-in-law, Bobbie, Joan and Melva Thompson; and her friend Frances Keziah Sheppard Hair.

She is survived by: her children, Ed Young Jr. (Janis), Denise Young Vead (Mike) and Betsy Young Boone (Paul); her grandchildren, Allie Young Utz (Bradley), Abby Young Liu (Bo), Connor Vead (Tamara) and Kaley Vead (Nathan Wright); her great grandchildren, Ellerbie, Gaines, Banks Utz and Brooklyn Vead; her siblings, Norman Thompson, Charles Thompson (Ella), Vera Thompson Smith (Jim) and Deanna Thompson Jones (Stan); her sisters-in-law, Terry Thompson and Nancy Thompson; her close friend Sue Keever Cooley (Fab); and her sisters, Judy 'JJ Jones, Shirley Little Murray and Jo Kelly. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
