He was predeceased by: his parents, Reva Hefner Spann and George Willard Spann; and his brother George Clarence Spann. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Rhymer Spann; and his children, Leslie Spann Beaver (Brian) of Granite Falls, Kevin Spann (Karma) of Lenoir, Christopher Spann (Kelly) of Morganton and Stacey Spann (Laura) of Granite Falls. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren.
