He is survived by: his wife Sandra Woodie Nelson; his daughters, Kelsey of Hudson and Allie Nelson of Hudson; his siblings, Hugh Nelson (Patty) of Lenoir and MaryBeth Benfield (Pat) of Granite Falls; his nieces and nephews, Todd Nelson (Jamie), Emily Cunningham (Michael), Will Benfield, Megan Woodie, Lucas Penley (Lauren), Elizabeth McCoun (Jared) and Victoria Davis (Kenny); and his parents-in-law, Dan Woodie (Janice) and Brenda Penley (Rick).
